Mark Bray, a visiting professor at Dartmouth (the Dartmouth Gender Research Institute), has been acknowledged by the “liberals” (who became the New New Left) as one of their own and a speaker for antifa. Mark Bray and his book Antifa: The Antifascist Handbook have been embraced and promoted by Washington Post (1), NBC News (this article and on Meet the Press), and DemocracyNow! (3). That establish strong connection between the “respectable” Left and following advocacy by Mark Bray (highlights are mine):
“… we have the power to strike back at the racial hierarchy that underpins the very essence of whiteness. This does not mean adopting a conservative ‘color-blind’ outlook, but rather targeting sources of white privilege and struggling in solidarity with the disinherited of the world. This does not mean exterminating people who are currently categorized as white, but abolishing the classificatory scheme that renders them so.” (p. 209 in the Kindle Edition)
The phrase “targeting sources of white privilege … does not mean exterminating people who are currently categorized as white” sounds guilty. It indicates that the idea of “exterminating people who are currently categorized as white” has been at least considered in his circles. Further, the alternative seemingly advocated by Mark Bray – “abolishing the classificatory scheme that renders them so” – is rejected by him in the previous sentence as a “conservative ‘color-blind’ outlook.” It is also rejected by the Left and the Democratic Party, which recently legislated this classificatory scheme, after few decades of repudiating racism. For example, there are laws that force employers to ask job applicants about their race. Answering this question is not obligatory yet. Antifa is also on the side of those who call human breath a pollution, and antifa’s violence is in line with the attempts to destroy our energy infrastructure, which might be considered among the main “sources of the [alleged] white privilege.” I will not expand on this subject here. Instead, a couple more quotes from Mark Bray:
“In late January 2017, thousands of protesters swarmed international airports across the United States to protest and physically disrupt the implementation of Donald Trump’s Muslim ban.” (p.206) – that exactly matches the language and the legal interpretation of 18 U.S. Code § 2384 – Seditious conspiracy: “If two or more persons … conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof … they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.”
“Our goal should be that in twenty years those who voted for Trump are too uncomfortable to share that fact in public . We may not always be able to change someone’s beliefs , but we sure as hell can make it politically , socially , economically , and sometimes physically costly to articulate them.” (p. 207) – that shows who is ‘fa’ in antifa – 60+ millions of the Trump voters.
