Correction to my essay in WUWT, Is Climate Alarmism Governance at War with the USA?: the likely time when hostile activities of the governing body of climate alarmism hypothetically rose to the level of war is 2011-2013, about a year and a half later than written in the article. Thanks to Hilary Ostrov for reminding me of the relevant facts.
In less than a month, some people will celebrate Lenin’s birthday, calling it Earth Day.
But today, March 25, 2017, is the
-Earth Day for the rest of us.
Barack and Michelle Obama have inked a $65 million deal for their memoirs (two books) with publisher, Penguin Random House. This publishing house is jointly owned by Bertelsmann Foundation (Germany) and Pearson PLC (UK). Bertelsmann Foundation, owning 53% in the joint venture, is not a commercial enterprise, but a politically engaged entity.
This amount is over four times the amount Bill Clinton received ($15 million), and six times the amount George W. Bush received ($10 million) — according to Fox News. The most likely reason is higher popularity of Obama abroad. Thus, for his service as the President of the United States, Obama received $3.2M in salary, and $65 million from foreign publishers, serving mostly foreign audiences. Is it surprising that he has not been faithful to his Oath to preserve and protect the Constitution?
Defeat Climate Change Cult!. Updated from 03/01/2017.
Dr. Richard Lindzen has sent a petition to President Trump, asking the President to withdraw the United States from the United Nations Convention on Climate Change. The petition has been signed by 300 hundreds scientists and qualified experts, and is still open for signing.

From the moment absurdity is recognized, it becomes a passion, the most harrowing of all. — Albert Camus
This is the best description of climate alarmism believers without the word “cult”.
“The FTC’s complaint alleges that OMICS Group, Inc., along with two affiliated companies and their president and director, Srinubabu Gedela, claim that their journals follow rigorous peer-review practices and have editorial boards made up of prominent academics. In reality, many articles are published with little to no peer review and numerous individuals represented to be editors have not agreed to be affiliated with the journals.” – from its press release on August 26, 2016.
These alleged crimes of OMICS Group sound very much like actions of IPCC and the Cambridge University Press, publishing IPCC reports. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, isn’t it?
14 Reasons why Silicon Valley embraced Climate Alarmism is published in WUWT.
- Silicon Valley consists from a large number of individuals with very similar professional backgrounds and a small pool of knowledge. Communication in such groups tends to reinforce their preconceived notions. Another place with this social phenomenon is Hollywood.
- The psychological types dominating these places might be totally opposite – egocentric actors and actresses in Hollywood vs introvert computer professionals in Silicon Valley (sorry for the stereotypes) – but their effect might be the same: discounting opinions of outsiders, even on subjects in which those outsiders have interest, knowledge, and experience.
- Privileged (in comparison with the manufacturing, energy, and other basic industries) political status of the software industry, also similar to that of Hollywood.
- Recent influx of “content creators” with hard left views.
The National Association of Scholars has published my new article, Academia is in the New Dark Age.
It continues polemics, started by an earlier article Academia on the Verge of a New Dark Age.
And it cites articles, published by Naomi Oreskes in 1994-2001, that eviscerated “climate models”, their use by IPCC, and warned about the pressure put on the scientists to endorse those models – just before she yielded to that pressure herself.
Michael Mann et al. claimed they were not required to share code according to rules allegedly made by the National Science Foundation (NSF). These alleged rules seem unique. For example, Nature contributors expect scientists who publish in peer-reviewed journals to not only share their code, but to do it quickly:
This makes sense. If the NSF issued a rule against mandatory code disclosure in time for Mann et al. to use it, it might have acted with the explicit purpose of protecting climate fraud.
This is the best description of the climatist “science”! Said by James Hansen about his own model in early 1990’s, according to McKibben:
NASA’s James Hansen, who had already done more than anyone else to warn the world about the greenhouse effect, made the gutsiest call, issuing a precise prediction for how the planet’s temperature would shift, month by month, in the next three years. At first he seemed to have missed, and greenhouse skeptics jumped all over the early results, using them to call the whole theory into question. But at a memorable scientific meeting in Hawaii, Hansen stood up and said, “I believe this is one case where the model is right and the world is wrong.”

The DC Court of Appeals has just thrown out the lawsuit, filed by the hockey stick trickster Michael Mann against the National Review Online. Mann’s lawsuits against Mark Steyn and CEI/Rand Simberg are still pending.
These lawsuits are frequently attributed to Mann’s excessive sensitivity. I disagree. These lawsuits were filed in October 2012, following Climate Accountability, Public Opinion, and Legal Strategies Workshop, held in June 2012. Filing Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP) was one of the strategies, Continue reading Mann’s SLAPP Slipped
Just got back from the Crossroads: Energy & Climate Policy Summit , a climate realism conference in Washington, DC, hosted by the Heritage Foundation and co-sponsored by the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
I was impressed by the number of diplomats from the European countries and the EU! A delegate from the Embassy of France, sitting next to me, was taking notes continuously. The world did take notice that the President-elect would not be bullied by the enviros and the UN.
That gives a hope that the Europe will shake off the yoke of climate alarmism.
Up until election day, almost all polls and analytical forecasts predicted that Hillary, a candidate from the incumbent Democratic Party, would win. Instead, Trump won by a large margin. Republicans won both House and Senate.
This pattern is frequently observed when a ruling party persecutes opposition. Fearing repression, supporters of the opposition disproportionately avoid polling or claim to support the ruling party. They express their opinion only on election day.
Attention of all interested parties: any pretense by Barack Obama to “ratify” the Paris climate pact is and will be null and void.
Yesterday, Bill Nye, a third sort actor playing a “Science Guy” on TV, while talking on the air to CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, accused CNN meteorologist Chad Myers of being a “climate change denier”, and demanded action.
Nye: “And you know, here at CNN you have, essentially, a climate change denier meteorologist. Knock yourselves out, but this is a big problem and it’s not going to go away.”
Cuomo: “A bigger conversation for another day.”
Today, Chad Myers announced his conversion to Climate Cult!
When has the United States of America turned into Climatistan?
Attorney General Claude E. Walker of the U.S. Virgin Islands has attempted to subpoena the Competitive Enterprise Institute for its work on climate change policy. The U.S. Virgin Islands is an unincorporated territory, not a state, and has population of about 100,000. USVI residents and corporations do not pay federal income tax and are exempt from the US custom provisions. Continue reading This Seditious Tax Shelter is after your Freedom
Andrew Solow, a statistician at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, has said of the contention that we will be too late if we wait to do something about the greenhouse effect until we are sure of it: “This argument applies equally to an invasion of aliens from space.” (The whole paragraph is from NY Books Review, 1989)
Can you guess whose slogan that might be? Burundi Council of Ministers — wrong answer. A band of hallucinating patients in a psychiatric hospital — wrong again.
This is the United States Global Change Research Program! Its full slogan: Thirteen Agencies, One Vision: Empower the Nation with Global Change Science. Among the participating thirteen agencies are the Department of Defense, NASA, NSF, the State Department, the Department of Energy, and the Department of the Interior.
“Thirteen Agencies, One Delusion” would be more accurate.
