Notebook 2017 Q4

George Soros has Moved $18 Billion into his Open Society Foundations “charity”.  If any smart lawyers are reading this – get together and sue them for all the harm they had inflicted on this country!  This is a rare (for a lawyer) opportunity to make big money for doing a good deed.

Contact me, if you don’t know the cause(s) of action.

The leftstream media and the left coast “tech” companies are promoting a neo-nazi event.  An example: Google News, 6th headline for the US, the reference to a Washington Post article.  Then they will again blame Trump for allegedly “encouraging neo-nazies”.

AntiFA = Anti First Amendment

Antifa is a re-incarnation of the Ku Klux Klan – bunches of hoodlums covering their faces and attacking enemies of the Democratic Party in states and municipalities controlled by the Democratic Party.

Making America Great Again

The Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called President Trump ‘a moron.’  Trump did not fire him, but offered to compare their IQs and said he would come on top.

The fakestream media is all over this exchange, seeing it as a real scandal.  After eight years of the Obama regime the FSM is surprised that there are heated political debates within the cabinet!  And that the president’s IQ is not a taboo!

Donald Trump is doing what he had promised – Making America Great Again – even by his reaction to impolite outbursts by his close aides.

Hillary, Democrats, and Their Media Still Refuse to Accept Elections Results

Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party, and their accomplices – the formerly mainstream media – still refuse to accept the results of the 2016 elections.  Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama issued hypocritical statements, pretending not to know and trying to distance themselves from their friend and a big donor Harvey Weinstein.  Announcing Ms. Clinton’s statement, her former campaign director Nick Merill has incorrectly referred to her as “Secretary Clinton” (1).  Announcing the statement by Ms. and Mr. Obama, reporters from CNN and NBC News have incorrectly referred to Mr. Obama as “President Obama” (2, 3).

Such failure to accept defeat and to orderly transition power to the elected president is unprecedented in the history of this country.

We Pay ISPs to Use the Internet, NOT to be Used or “Reached”

In the battle for fake net neutrality, there are also non-political motives behind this disguised attempt to take away our freedom. These ideas were best expressed by George Takei, an actor and activist, in a 2014 interview with WaPo that touched on the subject of net neutrality (2):

“Brian Fung, WaPo: Would you be open to paying a toll — or would AARP be open to paying a toll — to Internet providers to reach your audience?

George Takei: Well, this audience was built not by them, but by our efforts, by our creativity. And once we have that audience built, they want to charge us for it? … a policy has to be created to deal with the fact that access to large numbers of people was built by us, using platform.”

Apparently, some in Hollywood regard us as property they have built and own.  They want the government to protect their “ownership rights.”  Continue reading We Pay ISPs to Use the Internet, NOT to be Used or “Reached”

We are Made of Atoms that San Francisco AI Hates

The AI does not hate you, nor does it love you, but you are made out of atoms which it can use for something else.” (Eliezer Yudkowsky, Artificial Intelligence as a Positive and Negative Factor in Global Risk in Global Catastrophic Risks, 2008)

What if the AI is taught to hate the atoms of which you are made?  Google Search is an artificial intelligence system trained by some people that texts to hate carbon atoms, of which we are made.  Other web AIs, with which Google Search AI interacts, share this trait.  Their interaction creates another AI adverse to humanity – the “San Francisco AI.”  Almost all new information received by journalists, politicians, bureaucrats, and many citizens is influenced by the San Francisco AI.  Its contribution to climate alarmism and “the resistance” to Trump should not be underestimated.

Genocidal Ideas of the “Respectable” Left

Mark Bray, a visiting professor at Dartmouth (the Dartmouth Gender Research Institute), has been acknowledged by the “liberals” (who became the New New Left) as one of their own and a speaker for antifa.  Mark Bray and his book Antifa: The Antifascist Handbook have been embraced and promoted by Washington Post (1), NBC News (this article and on Meet the Press), and DemocracyNow! (3).  That establish strong connection between the “respectable” Left and following advocacy by Mark Bray (highlights are mine):

we have the power to strike back at the racial hierarchy that underpins the very essence of whiteness. This does not mean adopting a conservative ‘color-blind’ outlook, but rather targeting sources of white privilege and struggling in solidarity with the disinherited of the world. This does not mean exterminating people who are currently categorized as white, but abolishing the classificatory scheme that renders them so.Continue reading Genocidal Ideas of the “Respectable” Left

Intentional Google Search Bias Paper Published

My new research paper A Method of Google Search Bias Quantification and Its Applications in Climate Debate and General Political Discourse is published in WUWT.  Most people observe that Google search results on political topics are left leaning.  But, it was hard to determine whether such leaning was a simple reflection of the left/liberal cultural dominance on the web, or if the Google search team intentionally (or “artificially”) biased rankings.  This paper demonstrates and even quantifies such intentional or artificial bias.

After publication, I found a 2016 study that also shows that Google results are artificially biased in favor of liberal ideology and Democratic Party candidates: Google bias in search results; 40% lean left or liberal (Matt Bentley / CanIRank.com).  From the Matt Bentley study:

“Does it make sense, for example, that someone researching “Republican platform” should be presented only the official text of the platform and seven left-leaning results highly critical of that platform, with zero results supporting it?”

“… we would expect top ranked search results to have more external links compared to lower ranked search results.  Instead, pages demonstrating a left or far left political slant made it into the top results with significantly fewer external links compared to pages rated balanced. Pages with a right-leaning slant needed significantly more links to make it into the top results.”

“According to recent Google findings, online search is the resource that 87% of the population turns to first when a question arises. Online search plays a particularly prominent role in the democratic process during election season. During the 2012 election cycle, a survey of persuadable voters revealed that 49% get their news about campaigns and the election online, largely through search engines like Google, and that these voters generally trust the information they find online. Top search results are broadly perceived as being the most accurate and authoritative by members of the public with the first five search results accounting for an estimated 67% of all clicks and the first three results alone accounting for over 55% of all clicks. In their 2015 study, Robert Epstein and Ronald Robertson concluded that the order of search results can have a big impact on voter behavior — and in the event of a close election, this effect could even be profound enough to determine the outcome of the election.”

The Scorpion and the Frog: Dems to Sting Silicon Valley

Washington Post: “Breaking from tech giants, Democrats consider becoming an antimonopoly party” (1).

Quotes with comments:

The Democrats’ anti-monopolists have been winning the argument inside the party. During the Obama years, they’d been routed, as Google’s executive chairman, Eric Schmidt, strongly supported the president, and the Federal Trade Commission abandoned an antitrust case against the company.”  – Who is not crooked in the Democrat Party? Amazon Attempts to Hide Collusion with Hard Left

I noticed that the Amazon logo had disappeared from the “Battle for the Net” participants wall (1).  The battle has been waged by the Free Press and other hard Left groups, and supported by the seditious Internet giants to keep intact the order FCC-15-24 that was passed by Obama’s FCC in 2015.  That order purported to place the U.S. internet under the Title II of the 1934 Telecommunications Act in violation of the First Amendment and other Constitutional provisions.

The Amazon logo was on the wall on the day of the battle, July 12th, and remained there for at least two weeks.  As reported in WUWT,  Amazon did not deny that it had permitted placing its logo on that wall, when asked by email on July 13th.  Amazon did not reply to the email at all.

I guess Amazon will not be the only one company wishing not to have its logo on that wall.  To discourage history re-writing and to encourage shareholders to hold corporate insiders accountable, I post the original version of this Faux Net Neutrality Wall of Shame here.

10/03/2016 update: I have just noticed that the Internet Association has airbrushed itself out of the Wall of Shame, too.

Progressives Plan Treason Funded by Google and Facebook

Progressives openly plan to aid an enemy attacking the nation when they get an opportunity.

THE PROGRESSIVE RESPONSE TO (PREDICTABLE) EMERGENCIES: NATIONAL SECURITY CRISES AND DOMESTIC CRACKDOWNS IN THE TIME OF TRUMP

Moments of crisis, such as extremist violence or an international crisis, create windows for seizing power, enacting racist repression of entire communities, restricting civil liberties, cracking down on domestic opposition and going to war. [disgusting comparison is omitted] George W. Bush used 9/11. With Trump, Bannon and their allies in Congress, progressives must be prepared to fight back in the first hours and days of a national security crisis. (1)

Google and Facebook fund them, using shareholders’ money. (2)

Also, Sierra Club funds them using “charitable” money.  The American Federation of Teachers and The National Education Association fund them using union dues.

Climate Alarmism Meets SJW in Google

After Google fired its prodigy software engineer James Damore for writing an internal memo acknowledging differences between sexes, Breitbart’s Allum Bokhari started a series of articles about the internal Google culture of recent years. From Rebels of Google: ‘Senior Leaders Focus on Diversity First and Technology Second’:

The complaint [by NLRB] alleges that [Google’s] Senior Vice President Urs Holzle and numerous managers in his organization actively stoked up witch hunts in 2015 and 2016 intended to muzzle low-level employees who raised concerns about the company’s practices [referencing “workplace diversity and social justice initiatives”].

Google’s Senior Vice President Urs Holze is also a Vice Chair and Board Member of the World Wildlife Fund (1, 2).  The World Wildlife Fund was alleged to manage a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization in a civil RICO lawsuit (5:16-cv-211-C, Goldstein v. Climate Action Network et al., dismissed in June 2017).

According to WWF, “Hölzle manages many of Google’s other green initiatives, including the company’s purchases of renewable energy for its operations,” which is another fraud awaiting investigation.

Published in WUWT: Why Silicon Valley Embraced Climatism

14 Reasons why Silicon Valley embraced Climate Alarmism was published in WUWT on February 15, 2017.

Additional points:

  1. Silicon Valley consists from a large number of individuals with very similar professional backgrounds and a small pool of knowledge.  Communication in such groups tends to reinforce their preconceived notions.  Another place with this social phenomenon is Hollywood.
  2. The psychological types dominating these places might be totally opposite – egocentric actors and actresses in Hollywood vs introverted computer professionals in Silicon Valley (sorry for the stereotypes) – but their effect might be the same: discounting the opinions of outsiders even on subjects in which those outsiders have interest, knowledge, and experience.
  3. Politically privileged (in comparison with the manufacturing, energy, and other basic industries) political status of the software industry, also similar to that of Hollywood.
  4. Recent influx of “content creators” with hard left views.
  5. Immigration.  There is nothing wrong with the immigrant talent, which constitutes the overwhelming majority of the engineering workforce in Silicon Valley.  These immigrants are skilled, honest, and loyal.  But, being immigrants, they are unable to resist the manipulation and attacks from the hard Left.  This situation enabled a small cadre of Leftist agitators to create impression that their views are representative of the technical professionals.
  6. Crony capitalism: a) Al Gore’s role in some of the leading SV venture capital firms; and b) policy of pressure and rewards from Obama administration and the associated leftist groups.

You wouldn’t believe who’s behind “Battle for the Net”

The main organization behind the malicious smear campaign that fraudulently uses the phrase “net neutrality” is Free Press, a revolutionary Marxist group.  Robert W. McChesney, a founder of Free Press, sounds like Lenin.  From his 2014 article Sharp Left Turn for the Media Reform Movement (emphasis  is mine):

“In subsequent years the U.S. media reform movement blossomed, led primarily by a group I co-founded, Free Press. On a number of major issues … Free Press led the charge in Washington, DC. The thinking behind the group and the movement was to have one foot in the battles of the day as they were being fought in the capital, while having another foot doing organizing in the field, with the idea of expanding popular awareness and involvement in the movement. We realized that for most people the range of media policy outcomes then countenanced in Washington seemed abstract or inconsequential. We needed to capture their imagination with bold and radical proposals. The strategy was to create an army for structural media reform …”

The NY Times’ Scientific Ignorance is on Display

The New York Times has exhibited its scientific ignorance again.  This time, it republished a tweet from DPRK News Service accusing the American military of “near total ignorance of ballistic science.”  Fortunately, DPRK News Service is a parody Twitter account, so this case received some publicity.

This case is not just funny.  It demonstrates that the New York Times cannot distinguish a fake news service from a real one.  Not surprisingly, it regularly publishes fake news.  This case also shows the scientific illiteracy and obscurantism of the formerly mainstream media and its readiness to repeat any claims about science, as long as they fulfill their ideological needs.  Their claims of the Trump administration’s “ignorance of climate science” are similarly based on a hoax (fraud, to be accurate).

Self-Excitation Mechanisms in Leftist Echo Chamber

A new article The Leftist Echo Chamber in the Digital Age is published on this site.  It is about the social dynamics inside of the liberal public sphere that have let it slide so low and so far to the left.

It is hard to dispute that today’s political polarization is unprecedented since the Civil War. I think it has been caused by three tightly linked developments: a) the radical Left takeover of the liberal establishment and Democratic party; b) the radicalized lib/Dem establishment takeover of the media, academia, government, nonprofit sector, and most academic institutions; and c) foreign interference aiding and egging on the lib/Dem establishment.  Continue reading >

The 9th Circus is Back with Another Ban on the Travel Ban

From today’s 9th Circuit Appeals Court decision: “We conclude that the President, in issuing the Executive Order, exceeded the scope of the authority delegated to him by Congress.

The president’s authority is defined in the Constitution.  It is not delegated by Congress.

In suspending the entry of more than 180 million nationals from six countries, suspending the entry of all refugees, and reducing the cap on the admission of refugees from 110,000 to 50,000 for the 2017 fiscal year, the President did not meet the essential precondition to exercising his delegated authority …

The president exercises authority he has under the Constitution.  And does the Court really want the entry of 180 million nationals from Iran, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen?

Executive Order 13780 is a softened version of Executive Order 13769, which had been illegally stricken down by the same Court.

2017-06-26 Update: the Supreme Court unanimously confirms the Travel Ban.

Governors of States “fight climate change” – Rebel Alliance, Treason, or What?

This development is described completely differently in the different media:

The rebel alliance begins: Governors of New York, California, Washington form a coalition to fight climate change – according to FastCompany.

THE TREASONOUS SECESSION OF CLIMATE CONFEDERACY STATES . Prosecute Governor Brown for treason – according to FrontPageMag.

I find myself in the middle between these extremes. It is just another act of sedition by demonrats.

William Buckley on Liberals’ Facts Avoidance Habit

Some things don’t change. Buckley Jr., William. Up From Liberalism (1959):

“A second marked characteristic of the Liberal in debate with the conservative is the tacit premise that debate is ridiculous because there is nothing whatever to debate about . Arguments based on fact are especially to be avoided. Many people shrink from arguments over facts because facts are tedious , because they require a formal familiarity with the subject under discussion , and because they can be ideologically dislocative . Many Liberals accept their opinions , ideas , and evaluations as others accept revealed truths , and the facts are presumed to conform to the doctrines , as any dutiful fact will ; so why discuss the fact?” (Kindle Locations 522-527).

I think that anybody who attempted to engage a Liberal in a climate debate would wholeheartedly endorse this statement.  Continue reading William Buckley on Liberals’ Facts Avoidance Habit

Ezra Klein, an Icon of Liberal Ignorance

Ezra Klein is the Editor-in-Chief of Vox, founder of JournoList, contributor to WaPo, Bloomberg News, and MSNBC, and an all-around liberal icon.  A few years ago he said and wrote that the Constitution was written 100 years ago.  This level of ignorance is expected from modern libs.  What is surprising is that Mr. Klein has graduated from the University of California with a major in Political Science!  If the lib icons have no idea about the subjects they supposedly studied, is it any surprise that they know nothing about physics, biology, and engineering?

Amazon and The Washington Post

In September 2015, Amazon.com, controlled by Jeff Bezos, added to its Amazon Prime package free subscription(*) to the The Washington Post, owned by Jeff Bezos (1).  Thus, The Washington Post officially became an integral part of Amazon. This kind of arrangement between a national newspaper and a monopoly in multiple retail segments is unprecedented.

The Washington Post is one of the most rabid fakestream media outlets.  Amazon is one of The Dirty 129, having served as a “witness” in a lawsuit, filed by the corrupt Washington State Attorney General Ferguson against the Executive Order No. 13769. Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States.

Even before the elections, Donald Trump hinted that Amazon was a monopoly, and later The Washington Post assigned a special reporter’s team to dig dirt on him.

Thoughts on Handling Conflicts of Interest

Following the popular refutation of the false analogy between the medical doctors and “climate science communicators”, this post addresses another favorite subject of the climate alarmists.

The conflict of interest.  Like it or not, real experts do typically have conflicts of interest, or at least an appearance of one.  For example, medical doctors diagnose illness, recommend treatment, and perform the recommended treatment.  This creates a real and strong conflict of interest. As patients, many of us are aware of that and address it by one or more of the following: trust the doctor’s integrity, rely on the doctor’s accountability, or seek a second opinion.  Continue reading Thoughts on Handling Conflicts of Interest

BBC Pisses on the Public, Kisses up to Warmists

A WUWT reader ( ptolemy2,  ) wrote:

“In a radio interview I heard some years ago a BBC employee recalls his first day of work at the media establishment. An experienced colleague-mentor led him upstairs and out onto the roof. The two of them then stood together on the edge of the roof and urinated down on the people many floors below at ground level. (They were both male BTW.) This, the mentor explained was an important rite of passage impressing on a new employee the correct BBC attitude to hold towards the general public.” Continue reading BBC Pisses on the Public, Kisses up to Warmists

Attempt to Conceal Funding of the “March for Science”

The local investigation into the shooting continues, according to Dr. Roy Spencer.

Notably, the “March For Science” organizers removed from their website evidence of “financial support” to their satellite marches, either on the day of the March or immediately after it.  This screenshot was taken on April 25:

MfS Financial Support promise removed from website

The promise of “financial and legal resources” was already removed from the site on that day, and remained only in the Google snapshot.

The Washington Post against the First Amendment

In September 2016, WaPo published an article with the title: “Scientists published climate research under fake names. Then they were caught.” The subject of the article was one of the lesser known cases of suppression of climate dissent in formerly respectable peer-reviewed journals; suppression that’s supported by a formerly respectable media.  That case clearly shows the impossibility for dissenters from climate alarmism orthodoxy to publish in scientific journals.

The Washington Post’s reaction is an expression of its contempt for free speech, which includes the use of pseudonyms.   Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay wrote The Federalist Papers under the pseudonym (or the “fake name” according to WaPo) Publius.  In The Federalist Papers they advocated ratification of the Constitution, seemingly another object of the WaPo contempt.

Media Blackout of Climate Terrorism News

The media blackout of what looks like an act of climate terrorism, continues.

Following the ridiculous “March for Science,” at which third-rate performers and copywriters pretended to be scientists, unidentified shooters opened fire at the office of Dr. John Christy.  Dr. John Christy and Dr. Roy Spencer (who both work in the same building) are two of the prominent scientists who developed measurement methodology and have been maintaining the only truly global temperatures record — the satellite temperatures dataset.

Dr. Roy Spencer commented after the shooting:

“When I was at NASA, my boss was personally told by Al Gore that Gore blamed our satellite temperature dataset for the failure of carbon tax legislation to pass.”

Ignored by the FSM, this news was reported by Breitbart, Daily Caller, Washington Times, and WUWT.
