The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has made an astonishing “discovery”: the North Pole is on land. The two major causes of global sea-level rise are thermal expansion caused by the warming of the oceans (since water expands as it warms) and the loss of land-based ice (such as glaciers and polar ice caps) due to increased melting. This discovery has not received the media attention it deserves, except that Google presents it as true information for the query sea level rise causes. The brave “climate scientists” behind this “discovery” remain anonymous, as do their methods. Most likely, this finding was derived from the Al Gore climate model: the sea level rises as caused by Arctic ice melting. But melting, floating ice does not change the water level according to Archimedes’ principle. Therefore, Arctic ice must be on the land. The Antarctic ice sheet, which is really on the land, increases, not decreases. Their “Warming of the oceans” claim deserves a separate entry.
