Misusing law enforcement against its opponents was routine under the Obama administration. Remember how the FBI, under “boy scout” Comey, prosecuted and imprisoned Obama critic Dinesh D’Souza? Here, Steve McIntyre writes about Steele Dossier and Comey:
In my opinion, the purpose of Steele Dossier was no more and no less than to precipitate an FBI announcement that Trump was under FBI investigation for collusion with Russia. A categorical announcement would have killed Trump candidacy and delivered election to Hillary. Classic Dem dirty tricks. For that purpose, it didn’t matter whether the dossier ultimately stood up to the light of day or not. By the time that the FBI abandoned the investigation, it would be too late. But Comey didn’t deliver what Brennan and Clapper and Clinton wanted during the campaign. Only much later.

To summarize, reporting indicates that, prior to June 2016, the Obama Justice Department and FBI considered a criminal investigation of Trump associates, and perhaps Trump himself, based on concerns about connections to Russian financial institutions. Preliminary poking around indicated that there was nothing criminal involved. Rather than shut the case down, though, the Obama Justice Department converted it into a national-security investigation under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). …
In June, the Obama Justice Department submitted an application that apparently “named” Trump in addition to some of his associates. … the FISA court reportedly [now confirmed] turned down the Obama Justice Department’s request … Not taking no for an answer, the Obama Justice Department evidently returned to the FISA court in October 2016.
According to David Blake, the FBI failed to interview the Romanian man, who hosted the dcleaks.com domain, alleged to be part of GRU operation:
Catalin Florica was even interviewed by Associated Press on the 27th November 2017, and said that the FBI hadn’t contacted him, even though the registration of dcleaks.com was on public record.
All of the three known sites that was claimed hacked or phished the DNC/DCCC came from the services used by Florica. He registered DCLeaks.com back in 2010. But now claims he’s “no idea” what happened since.
Bad Guys
Bruce & Nellie Ohr might be more important than they seem. They connected the FBI to Fusion GPS, worked for Oleg Deripaska via Fusion GPS, and colluded with Deripaska on behalf of the FBI. If you look for the real collusion between the Obama administration and the Russian government in the 2016 elections, contacts between Bruce Ohr and his FBI accomplices with Oleg Deripaska is exhibit A. The contact took place from January through July 2016 when Oleg Deripaska travelled to the US on a diplomatic visa; as a Russian government official and diplomat, he was immune from any action by the FBI. Bruce & Nellie Ohr, on the other hand, were not immune from receiving his money, which they did through Fusion GPS. Paul Manafort was an enemy of Deripaska, who earlier sued him for $20M, so it would not be surprising if Deripaska enlisted in the fight against him Bruce & Nellie Ohr, who enlisted other top DOJ and FBI officials. Bruce & Nellie Ohr also served as a conduit between the DOJ and the German Embassy and British Crown Prosecutors.
